Ibex Education: Independent Educational Consultant

About Ibex Education

My Background

I'm Rebecca Ferriday, and I've been working in the education sector for over over 20 years. I originally worked as an adult literacy, numeracy and IT tutor before moving from the further to the higher education sector, working first as a teacher educator, and now as Learning Technology Manager in a Russell group University.

I hold a Masters degree in Education and a PGCE, have QTLS and am a subject specialist in English language and linguistics. I also have CMALT status, as a Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technologies.

My Experience

I consult across the further and higher education sectors in a number of learning technology and teacher education-based disciplines and present at a variety of webinars and conferences both nationally and internationally.

My skills relate to all things learning technology and elearning-based, and I specialise in two areas:

  1. using my experiences and knowledge of teacher education and theories of teaching and learning to advise on the best technologies to use to enhance students' learning
  2. developing innovative eLearning resources that enhance learning, engage students, and increase motivation

I also have extensive experience of using virtual worlds as a digital platform for teaching, learning and presenting.

About Me

When I'm not working with clients, I am an avid fan of all things science-fiction listening to live music, and to get away from living in a city, I enjoy spending time with my partner walking the Welsh countryside, bird watching and sketching.

When time allows, I also write reviews of books, audio books and graphic novels for an online magazine, and I am hoping to ride every zip-wire in the world beofre I get too old!

What I Do

I work with individuals and companies (such as Cardiff University, Cornwall Truro, and Bristol Colleges, NHS Wales, Shelterbox, and the Avallain Foundation) to consult on curriculum development, blended learning solutions, and the use of virtual worlds in educatio.  I also create websites and develop innovative elearning resources that enhance the student experience.

With over 20 years of experience in teaching, learning and educational development and a real passion for all things 'edutechy', I provide my services on an hourly basis, and am happy to travel to your institution.
